Water Meter PET Industrial Control Membrane Switches
Product Description
Custom Membrane Switches keypads & keyboards
Membrane switch (also known as a touch switch or membrane keypad) is constructed from flexible layers or "membranes"– thin like plastic wrap but made of polyester – sandwiched together like stacked sheets of paper. These layers can interact with each other when stimulated from the top down.
The flexible, pressure-sensitive membranes have a circuit printed on them with conductive ink.
Common materials for this ink include copper, silver, or graphite.
The circuit can then be actuated by pressure from the upper layer, printed with a graphic to indicate where to touch. The interacting layers are sealed together with adhesive to create a self-contained, low-voltage circuit in a tiny package.
Compare to mechanical switch. The Membrane switch is with a traditional toggle switch but constructed from bulky metal or plastic parts.
Numerous functions of a touchscreen can be fulfilled by a membrane switch, but with far less circuitry and voltage requirements.
For many applications, membrane switches are the ideal solution.
Membrane Switch Layers
A typical membrane switch consists of below components layers:
Graphic Overlay
Overlay Adhesive
Dome Retainer / Upper Circuit Layer
Spacing Layer
Lower Circuit Layer
Back Adhesive Layer
Rigid Support Layer
